Recent history taught us that certain conservative/(extreme) right-wing/fascist ideas are vastly connected to all sorts of conspiracies and non-factual/post truth politics. Denying facts or scientific outcome and changing it into this hateful and distrustful monster of lies. It's scary that those ideas undermine facts that could save human lives. We hope people can see past those lies. The internet can be a dumpster filled with all sorts of unfounded opinions. Most of the times it's simply better to trust the people who actually studied complex subjects instead of blindly following the easy-to-digest one-liners of populistic figures.
